Desde pequeña me enseñaron que tenía que ser fuerte, pasase lo que pasase. Que solo los mediocres lloran, y que mostrarse vulnerable era de cobardes. Todo ideas tóxicas, que me han llevado muchos años detectar y deconstruir. Pero entre toda esa mierda, también saqué algo bueno: una resiliencia brutal. Porque si pase lo que pase te obligas a ser fuerte, acabas desarrollando una capacidad muy alta para superar los problemas. Me siento especialmente orgullosa del trabajo emocional que he hecho en este área: siento que he convertido algo bastante chungo (la negación de las emociones) en una herramienta para hacer crecer mi autoestima y mi capacidad de autoconocimiento 💖 Me encantaría que compartieseis conmigo, si os apetece, alguna cosa a priori negativa que os ha acabado enseñando algo bueno.

Since I was little, my parents taught me that I had to be strong, no matter what. That only the mediocre cry, and that being vulnerable was cowardly. It took me many years to detect and deconstruct these toxic ideas. But out of all that shit, I also got something good: resilience. Because if you force yourself to be strong, you end up developing a very high capacity to overcome problems. I’m especially proud of the emotional work I’ve done in this area: I feel that I’ve turned something quite awful (the denial of emotions) into a tool to increase my self-esteem and my capacity for self-knowledge 💖 If you feel like it, I’d love you to share something negative that has ended up teaching you something good.

Buscamos de forma insidiosa el tener razón. Tiene sentido: nuestro ego se infla cada vez que corregimos a alguien, especialmente si existe un público que vaya a darse cuenta de que estábamos en lo cierto (En esto se basa twitter hoy en día ¿?). Pero pensar que tenemos razón frena, irónicamente, nuestra capacidad de crecimiento. Somos capaces de evolucionar únicamente cuando podemos cuestionar no solo a nuestro entorno, sino también a nosotros mismos. Lo que deberíamos buscar no es la certeza, sino la duda. Dudar de nuestros conocimientos, de nuestros valores, de todo lo que pensamos que es inamovible. 👉 Estar equivocada en algo, me permite cambiarlo. Y ese cambio me da la oportunidad de acercarme a ser la persona que quiero ser 👽 ¿Qué cosas de vosotros mismos, vuestra vida o vuestros valores os estáis cuestionando, u os habéis cuestionado?

We insidiously seek to be right. It makes sense: our ego inflates every time we correct someone, especially if there’s an audience that will realize that we were right (This is what twitter is based on today?). But thinking that we are right ironically slows down our capacity for growth. We’re capable of evolving only when we can question not only our environment, but also ourselves. What we should be looking for is not certainty, but doubt. Doubting our knowledge, our values, everything that we think is immovable.
👉 Being wrong about something allows me to change it. And that change gives me the opportunity to get closer to being the person I want to be 👽 What things about yourself, your life or your values are you questioning, or have you questioned before?
